I think that many of us have went through friendships where that person just dumps you at any sign of trouble or a problem. That isn’t being loyal at all! In fact it is in times like those when we are facing something tough that we need a friend! Maybe you are having a bad day, or just aren’t lively or happy. Maybe you have a disagreement with a parentor another relative. That person who bails on you or isn’t honest isn’t a true friend at all! The bible says in Proverbs 10:9 the honest person will live in safety, but the dishonest person will be caught. We all as friends to one another need to look into the life of Ruth and her loyalty and faithfulness to her mother-in-law Naomi. Yet Naomi tried to get Ruth to return to her homeland of Moab she refused and stated in Ruth 1:16 ‘Don’t force me to leave you; don’t make me go home. Where you go, I go; and where you live, I’ll live, Your people are my people, your God is my God; where you die, I’ll die, and that’s where I’ll be buried, so help me GOD-not even death itself is going to come between us!’ We need to use Ruth as a role model for our lives and be loyal to our friends as she was to Naomi. We can learn a lot from the faithfulness of Ruth and use it to be faithful and loyal to each of our friends as the bible says in Galatians 5:14 ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ we need to put others before ourselves especially when they are having rough times.
So as you are being a friend to others remember Ruth and her self-lessness. Use it for reference be loyal, honest and faithful!
May God Bless you,
love you lots,
